POWER vs INFLUENCE
It used to be: Whoever has power has influence.

The desire for power and influence has been ever-present throughout human history. Just as it used to drive rulers and their peoples uncompromisingly to conquer the world, so it drives politicians and entrepreneurs to create authoritarian regimes and monopoly positions of today.

The desire for monopoly stems from the desire lust for power. No matter which industry or field!  Monopoly on energy, monopoly on transport, monopoly on natural resources, monopoly on religion, monopoly on the world, monopoly on the universe..., all are driven by the desire lust for power. To possess power and to influence everything. Power is therefore first and foremost a question of authority. And authority is power made real.

Today it is: Whoever has influence has power.

Power is a position, a stronghold or authority wanting to be maintained. This is its focus. Power with no real influence fades with time. It is nothing but a paper tiger, a kind of aristocratic ornament of a bygone age.

If power succumbs to the feeling of being endangered, it will be undermined by its own fear. Power can only maintain its position if it has grasped the dynamics of needs and is carefully managed and orchestrated. But there are more challengers every day.

Today's successful transnational corporations build influence on the user.  Apple, Amazon, Google, Tesla, Uber, Airbnb,... they did not have the power to begin with. They generated influence with their products and services.  They have brought us closer to technology, organised the world of information, simplified work, made travel cheaper, made life simpler, more efficient, and sustainable.

Influence is a thought that no wall can stop.Influence is a generator that overtakes need. It appeals to an individual's desire and turns that desire into a demand.

The digital age is spreading its voice at lightning speed, and influence has never been more powerful. It is a force that can shake many a bastion of power overnight. Influence creates like-minded people and opens up new areas of social consensus. Influence is an idea that spreads like a virus. When influence achieves its mission, it occupies a position of power.
