Exponential thinking
We, humans, love the auto-pilot. We live by it! From the morning routines we create for ourselves to the steady jobs we go to each day. Predictable outcomes bring calm, make our life easy.
The issue with predictions: they are limited by past experience. Yet our world is chaotic; it does not follow a familiar script.
We humans also possess imagination! Significant breakthroughs in human society happen when one imagines a better outcome, takes a leap of faith, and finds a way to make it happen.
The gotcha of foresight: you won’t know if it works until you give it a try. And that isn’t calm, and it doesn’t come easy.

It’s a catch-22 situation, we know. We have been there ourselves: working with other heads of companies for years, eating our own dog food with personal ventures in-between.
Alas, we don’t settle for small improvements! Not that anything is wrong with them, but others have them covered. We would rather spend our energy on bigger, long-term opportunities. So should you. You are a corporate leader, after all.
Sometimes, it seems the technology may not be there yet. You get scared the customers won’t like it. Or expect the political climate to stand in the way. How could you know?
Don’t assume, test. Don’t present, prototype. Explore a multitude of ideas, at once! Embrace surprises, build on top of them. And above all else: don’t settle for a “no, can’t do.”
